College of Nursing 1st Floor Renovation
Medical University of South Carolina | Charleston, South Carolina
This project includes renovating the 1st floor at the College of Nursing (CON) building to create new collaborative learning spaces for nursing department. The CON is housed on the 2nd through 5th floors, with a nursing simulation lab on the first floor that our firm previously designed. The simulation lab will be vacating the space, allowing the CON to use the additional floor. Our firm met with the CON Dean and Task Force to develop a conceptual architectural program and cost estimate for the renovation of the 1st floor, to create flexible research spaces, lecture and conference spaces, classrooms, and
collaborative areas for use by students and faculty. The renovation includes a flexible lecture-type hall, collaborative gathering areas, two classrooms that can be reconfigured into one, a sub-dividable research hub, and a multi
functional common area to support student community and engagement, workshops, conferences, professional meetings, and state of the art AV systems and technologies to support in person and remote instruction.
