Edisto EMS Station No. 8

Charleston County   |   Edisto Beach, South Carolina

Due to growth in the Edisto Beach area and an increase in emergency calls, a need arose to update the existing station, located in a single family home, into a modern facility. Situated on a remote barrier island, the site presented some unusual design challenges due to a lack of municipal utilities that resulted in incorporation of a well with filtration system, and an above ground 5,000 gallon storage tank for fire water.

The existing station will be replaced with a new, 5,200 SF single-story structure to staff 2-4 people. The facility will contain 2 pull-through apparatus bays, secured lobby with transaction window, office, dayroom, kitchen/dining, toilet and shower rooms, laundry/decontamination space, 4 bunk rooms, and storage spaces.
