Built in the early 1980s, the Town’s original Fire Station #2 had suffered significant water damage and structural issues, and no longer met the operational needs of the department. Following a thorough assessment, it was determined that the best course of action was to demolish the outdated facility and construct a new, modern station.

Our firm collaborated with the Town to develop an 8,300-square-foot, one-story fire station, designed to accommodate five firefighters and equipped with essential features including a community meeting room, training room, weight room, and a three-truck apparatus bay. As part of a broader initiative to improve emergency facilities, a design standard for Town fire stations was created, incorporating resilience features such as elevated construction for flood protection, seismic and high-wind resistance, and space for additional staff during emergencies.

The building’s exterior was crafted to harmonize with the architectural character of Sea Pines Resort, featuring a blend of brick, cementitious panels, shingle siding, and asphalt shingles, with select areas accented by standing seam metal roofing.
