For over 60 years, Fire Station #2 on James Island served its community following its original construction in 1964. Despite various updates over the decades, the James Island Public Service District (JIPSD) outgrew the modest station, creating the need for a larger, more modern facility. The new, one-story station accommodates up to four personnel, featuring two pull-through apparatus bays, decontamination rooms, storage areas, sleeping quarters, restrooms, a Captain’s office, and a fully equipped commercial kitchen and living quarters.

To ensure a seamless, budget-conscious project, JIPSD selected a Construction Management at Risk (CMAR) delivery method, bringing the contractor into the design phase early to enhance cost control and real-world pricing alignment.
