Adult Emergency Department Expansion

This project included interior renovations of approximately 4,500 SF on the 1st floor of MUSC's Clinical Science Building, including existing MRI and adjacent spaces into Adult ED Team Triage, Adult and Pediatric Observation Bays, Nurse Station(s) and associated support areas. Spaces in the new layout includes:12 observations bays to observe patients for less than 24 hours which are outfitted with recliners, centrally located nurse station, clean and soiled utility rooms, medication room, patient and staff restroom facilities, janitorial closet, and support spaces. The update of this space also resulted in a new connection to the adjacent Adult Emergency Department. Consideration for psychiatric anti-ligature design was incorporated into the project.

The work consisted of selective demolition of existing rooms (previously MRI suite), new interior partitions, interior finishes, medical gas system, relocating mechanical ductwork and diffusers, new lights and electrical devices.
