St. John's Fire District   |   Seabrook Island, South Carolina 

This 7,000-square-foot fire station on Seabrook Island was developed to replace an outdated facility on-site, addressing the increased operational and space requirements of the Fire Department. To maximize functionality within a limited building footprint, the majority of the residential quarters were strategically located above the apparatus bay, optimizing space while accommodating the constraints of the site. The station’s residential area is equipped to support a rotating staff of eight, providing bunk rooms, lockers for the full team, a communal kitchen and living area, a fitness room, and a laundry facility, ensuring personnel comfort and readiness for 24-hour shifts.
The apparatus bay is designed to house up to two fire trucks, offering ample space for emergency response vehicles and streamlined access. The exterior design of the station complements the architectural character of Seabrook Island, blending seamlessly with the local aesthetic while delivering a critical upgrade in emergency response capabilities for the community.
