Nursing Simulation Lab Renovation
The Citadel | Charleston, South Carolina

The renovation of existing office and classroom space at The Citadel’s Bryd Hall provides education, technology and hands-on training to teach students in the nursing program. The existing room of approximately 2,000 SF was analyzed in a conceptual study before proceeding with renovations.
This project was broken up into two phases. The first phase was a conceptual study of an existing room in Byrd Hall to renovate classroom and office space into a simulation lab and classroom. The study also analyzed a conceptual floor plan including possible furniture and equipment layout, investigation of existing MEP systems, AV equipment and cost estimating.
The second phase of the project was the renovation of the proposed existing room space. The architectural program for this phase included a skill lab large enough to accommodate 4 beds, a high fidelity simulation area with 2 beds/head-wall and simulated med gas, a control room with two computer stations, classroom instruction for 8 students and 2 professors, office space, and support areas and storage.
